Pack 7 Derby Workshop: a Design and Build "Makerspace"

Saturday, Jan 28th 9:00 AM at Hianloland Fire Station:

9:00 Design Table opens early

9:30-11:30 Build stations open

Come to our Pack 7 Workshop for access to the following special tools, gaining the advice and expertise of seasoned leaders to bring out the best of your creativity and engineering!

• band saw (for complex and curvy cuts) makes quick work of getting close to the final shape

• power hand drill with Forstner bits (makes flat-bottomed precision holes to embed weights)

• belt sander

• power palm sander

• wheel and/or axle tools

• hand coping saw

• graphite powder (dry lube)

• glues (hot glue, epoxy, and/or wood glue)

• carving tools

• shaped files and wood rasp

• hammer

• hand saw

• screwdrivers

• digital scale

• sizing box

• flat track section for preliminary roll testing (no timer or ramp testing until registration dates!)

• extra pinewood derby kits will be available for sale, so siblings and parents can build a car of their own ($5 fee per additional kit applies)

• Note the workshop is not geared towards painting and decoration. This keeps some of the mystery and surprise under wraps until Registration day!
